★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 鎌倉公方足利成氏（あしかがしげうじ）は、1455年古河に移りこの台地に館を構えました。
以降、「古河公方」と呼ばれ、五代にわたり約130年間、関東に一大勢力を誇りました。
古河公方館趾の石碑の東西には、当時の堀と土塁が跡をとどめています。
周囲を沼に囲まれたイヌシデやコナラを主体とした雑木林には、水面に反射した光が明るく差し込みます。
早春にはアカゲラの木をつつく音がこだまし、夏には緑陰を楽しむ人が訪れ、紅葉の頃にはサクサクと落ち葉をふみしめる音が小気味よく響きます。

Mr. Ashikaga Shigeuji, Kantō Kubō, moved to Furukawa in 1455 and set up a mansion on this plateau.
