★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 秋の頃が良い。公園から展望すると、西に旭山、その右手に鬼無里に続く裾花川の渓谷から一気に台地になつた往生寺前入口へ辿れるバス道がある。旧長野高等女学校、今は共学となった長野西高等学校の校舎も真下に良く見える。南方は善光寺本堂を背後からのぞみ、その向こうに門前町が南に少し傾斜して続いている。その向こう善光寺平の南部を犀川が西から東へキラキラと輝いて見える。千曲川は、更にその奥に流れて見え難いが、松代、八幡原の少し下流で、犀川を合流する。その当たりから、眼を上に上げると、菅平高原を裾野にいただく、四阿山(あづまやさん)の威容がずっしりと高い。浅間山の大噴火の時は、四阿山の肩から立ち昇る。紅葉、カメラ写生に良。
Autumn is good. Looking from the park, there is a bus route to the west of Asahiyama and to the right of the valley of Susanagawa River, which leads to Kinashiri, to the entrance of Joshoji-mae, which has quickly become a plateau. The school building of the former Nagano High School, now co-ed Nagano Nishi High School, is clearly visible directly below. To the south, you can see the main hall of Zenko-ji Temple from behind. On the south side of Zenkojidaira, the Sai River appears to shine from west to east. The Chikuma River flows further down and is hard to see, but it joins the Sai River slightly downstream of Matsushiro and Yawatabara. From that point, when you raise your eyes upward, you can see the Sugadaira Kogen in the foothills, and the power of Shizuyama (Azumaya-san) is quite high. At the time of the great eruption of Mt. Asama, it rises from Mt. Autumn leaves, good for camera sketches.
