Great place, awesome staff, comfy bed and ideally placed. Okay so this is probably the best service I've ever received from any hotel, hostel, house. The staff speaks very good English, and are extremely friendly. They have free shuttles to the Snow monkey Park, and can recommend and take you to fancy out of town onsens. They also have the keys to the great and free public onsen of Shibu onsen. They helped me book my bus back to Tokyo from the Japanese website (which was 1500yen cheaper than the one I was considering taking), and on the last morning as I was on a tight schedule I had planned to run 40 minutes to the monkey park so I could spend only 20 more minutes there as my train was pretty early, so one of the staff feeling sorry for me actually got into her car and drove me there, free of charge. Such kindness. The rooms are very clean, confortable, and bed was large enough for my 1m97. This a very nice wooden traditional Ryokan very beautifully decorated. I took the cheap dorm room, which was already very nice! I had hesitated with another cheap dorm hostel in the city, and couldn't be happier I chose this one : the other was much less traditional and interesting, and more importantly as they did not provide the keys to the 9 free public onsens (which are only available if you stay in a ryokan), so if you went to the other you had to pay 500yen and only one of the 9 was available, where as Koishiya Ryokan did provide the key (as well as traditional bath kimono (the Yukata), towels and traditional bath shoes). In summary as one can tell I am very very enthousiastic about this place. I fell in love with the area and this Ryokan had a major part in that, so thank you so much!

Cannot say enough good things about this place!! The staff are friendly, genuine and extremely helpful. They drove us to their private onsen off-site (500 yen/person) then did a quick stop over at the 7-11 for snacks at 11pm. They gave us suggestions for the next two weeks of our trip the morning we left. It's right in the middle of Shibu-Onsen so access to the public baths is easy-peasy. They provide Fukata and Geta free of charge at the hotel so you are all sorted, plus drove us back to Yudanaka train station the morning we left. The room was cozy, clean and the beds were sooo comfortable. A perfect size Ryokan. Thanks again for the great stay!!

This place it amazing!!!! Staff so nice an accommodating, free shuttles to monkeys and baths and an amazing cafe with decent prices and amazing food! The local sake and apple cider/beer is some of the best I ever tried. And as a Britt iv tryed my share. Room prices are good and the rooms them self are so pretty. Everything is made of wood and the smell around the entire place reflects that. Definitely worth.

Loved this place. Super traditional but comfortable and modern in the right places. Shuttles to the station, snow monkey park and to the various local Onsen (public baths). The staff are so nice, they really make everything simple and hassle free. Such nice people! The restaurant is also great, definitely eat there if you stay.

Fantastic experience, we were lucky to get a 'too good to be true' deal so I was expecting something to be off, but I couldn't find a fault. All of the food was fantastic, like really good, some of the best pasta I've ever had. Went to the private onsen that they offer, amazing view and did 4 of the 9 public onsen, a bit too got for the likes of me. I will definitely come back!

It's a very nice place to stay a night or two. Traditional Japanese accommodation was new for us but we enjoyed kimonos and neighboring baths in the street. We often remember that experience.

I really had a great time staying at Koishiya Ryokan. It was really one of the best moments in my life. I can’t wait to visit Shibu Onsen again and stay at this ryokan. They were very accommodating and friendly. They even assisted and drove me off to Jigukudani Monkey Park as I wasn’t familiar with the direction. That time I felt shy for asking to drop me off, but without a second doubt, they willingly did. Thank you Koishiya Ryokan for the pleasant service. I’ll come back again. ☺️

We stayed for a night and the service was very good. The staffs are polite and very accommodating. The overall place was great. As, I can feel the traditional ryokan atmosphere. Food, staffs, cleanliness, accessibility is excellent. The staffs also tried to communicate in English for us to understand better. If you want to experience ryokan, onsen, and wanted to visit the snow monkey park. Go visit this place. They also offer free shuttle service to a private onsen and to the snow monkey park.
