★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 修行大師像は東寺南大門を入った右手(西側)に北向きに立っています。観光客の方はあまり気づかずに通りすぎますが、地元の方は手を合わせたり、焼香したりしています。なんで北向きなんだろう？ と思いながら、東寺に来たときは手を合わせています。なかなか凛々しいお姿の像です。
The statue of Kobo Daishi stands northward on the right side (west side) of the entrance to Toji Nandaimon. Tourists pass by unnoticed, but locals join hands and burn incense. Why is it facing north? While thinking, when I came to Toji, I joined hands. It is a very dignified statue.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 東寺南大門を入ると多くの人はそのまま急ぎ足でまっすぐに金堂や講堂に向かいますが、門をくぐってすぐ左側にこの立派な弘法大師像がありますので、ぜひ像の前に立ってみてください。
When you enter the South Grand Gate of Toji Temple, many people hurry straight to the Kondo and the auditorium, but there is this magnificent Kobo Daishi statue on the left side just after passing through the gate, so please stand in front of the statue.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 弘法大師の生涯は、唐にわたって頭角を現すまでは謎が多く、伝説も多い修行時代ですが、謎が多いからこそ逆に魅力が大きいと感じます。早朝の開門と同時に参拝が可能で、地元の信者さんが熱心に通われる姿に、今も生きるお大師様の偉大さを改めて感じました。
The life of Kobo Daishi is a training period with many mysteries and many legends until it reveals the corners of Tang Dynasty. I was able to worship at the same time as the opening of the early morning, and I felt once again the greatness of the master who still lives, as the local believers are enthusiastic.
