伊勢神宮外宮に祀られている豊受大神の旧鎮座地として知られ、元伊勢の一社で「元伊勢籠神社」とも呼ばれてる神社です。ご祭神は、本宮(下宮)に彦火明命、奥宮(上宮)の真名井神社に豊受大神となっており、本殿は伊勢神宮と同じ「唯一神明造」です。
