★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 山形県内を流れる最上川が、“五月雨を集めて早し最上川”と詠まれた急流部分の最上峡谷を抜け、まさに庄内平野に出んとする場所、そんな場所に清川の集落がある。
松尾芭蕉の奥の細道の旅では、最上峡谷を舟で下ってきて、清川の地で上陸し、ここから羽黒山に向かっている。
現在では、「松尾芭蕉上陸の地」の史跡が整備されている。
明治時代になって、松尾芭蕉の足跡を追って東北を旅した正岡子規。
同じく子規も最上川を舟で下っている。、最上川峡谷の織りなす幽玄な美しさに驚嘆した様子が、紀行文「はて知らずの記」に余すことなく書き記されている。
子規も清川で舟から上陸している。
子規は、この地は戊辰戦争の清川口の戦場跡であると聞いたようで、次の句を詠んでいる。
「蜩（ひぐらし）の二十五年も昔かな」（正岡子規／はて知らずの記）
この25年とは、戊辰戦争の25年後に子規が訪問したということ。

On a journey through the narrow path behind Matsuo Basho, we sailed down the Mogami Gorge, landed at Kiyokawa, and headed for Mt. Haguro from here.
Currently, the historic site of "Matsuo Basho Landing Land" is being maintained.
In the Meiji era, Shiki Masaoka traveled to Tohoku following the footsteps of Basho Matsuo.
Similarly, Shiki also sails down the Mogami River. , The state of being amazed at the mysterious beauty of the Mogami River Gorge is written in the travelogue "Hatenai no Ki".
Shiki also landed from a boat in Kiyokawa.
Shiki seems to have heard that this place is the battlefield site of Kiyokawaguchi in the Boshin War, and wrote the following phrase.
"Twenty-five years ago of Higurashi" (Shiki Masaoka / Unknowing Note)
The last 25 years means that Shiki visited 25 years after the Boshin War.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 大した場所じゃ無いんですが、しっかり残しておくのは重要ですよね。しかもここ食事も可能です・・・お土産も少し売ってて、ちょうど良い場所。もう少し川の眺めが良いと良いのですが、この辺りが少し残念。かな。

「五月雨をあつめて早し最上川」という句を詠んでいたと言われている松尾芭蕉の上陸の地。出羽三山へ参拝の出発点として往時の賑わいは今は昔の雰囲気。
清川の関所跡に記念館と最上川を眺める展望台？が整備されています。

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 芭蕉上陸の地、今は関所が復元されています。清川八郎記念館と同時に見て回ると見応えあるかも。親切なスタッフが多く気持ちの良い対応。食事（蕎麦）も出来ます。
The landing site of Basho, now the barrier has been restored. It might be worth seeing if you look around at the same time as the Kiyokawa Hachiro Memorial Hall. There are many kind staff and it is a pleasant response. You can also eat (soba).
