無人駅ですが6月の木曽漆器祭では駅員がいます。
また、青空フリーパスの中央線における最端部分にあたる駅でもあります。自販機あり。

塩尻駅までJRが330円かかりますがバスは100円と230円も得。
路線バスは塩尻市地域振興バスです。
ほぼ毎日運転ですが、JRより時間かかかるし本数もほとんどありません。

毎年行われる漆器祭りの時だけは駅員さん？がいて、特急しなのが止まります。
トイレは廃止されて現在は在りません。
漆器祭りでは普段店の奥にある漆器類が店頭に並ぶんで、見るだけでも楽しいです。

でも全くけいおんとは関係がない無人駅です。
木曽漆器の中心たる平沢宿に直結している駅で、駅前は非常に狭いです。
平沢宿も狭い宿場町でお店も漆器屋ばかりですが、平日はほとんどやっていない感じです。
わりと地味な宿場なので奈良井と比べると見所がありません。
電車も一時間に一本程度しか停まらないローカル駅です。
