★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 仙台市登録文化財。亀岡八幡宮は，文治5年（1189）に伊達氏の祖・伊達朝宗（ともむね）により，鎌倉の鶴岡八幡宮が勧請されたものである。社殿は，度々場所を移しているが，天和3年（1683）に仙台藩四代藩主伊達綱村により，現在地に再建されており，石段もその際の造営とされる。亀岡八幡宮石段は，亀岡山裾の石鳥居から山頂の社殿まで延びており，市内では最も長い石段である。石段の数は，年間日数の365日から由来し，現在は削られて335段程度になっている。昭和20年(1945)の戦災により，社殿等を焼失しているために，往時を示す数少ない貴重な遺構である。
Sendai City registered cultural property. Kameoka Hachimangu was solicited by Date's ancestor, Date Tomomune, in 1189 for Tsurugaoka Hachimangu in Kamakura. The shrine building has been relocated frequently, but it was rebuilt at the present location by Date Tsunamura, the fourth feudal lord of the Sendai domain in 1683, and the stone steps are said to have been built at that time. The Kameoka Hachimangu stone steps extend from the stone torii gate at the foot of Mt. Kameoka to the shrine at the summit, and are the longest stone steps in the city. The number of stone steps is derived from 365 days a year, and is now cut to about 335 steps. Since the shrine and other buildings were burned down by the war damage in 1945, it is one of the few precious remains that shows the past.
