桶川市指定文化財 樋詰の道しるべ
種別:民俗文化財(有形民俗) 平成8年5月29日指定
この道しるべは、高さ40cmほどの小さな道しるべです。明和8年(1771)に建てられ、正面には「あきは道」「大宮道」とあります。「あきは」 は火災除け、盗難除けの神様として信仰を集めた指扇村(現さいたま市)の秋葉神社で、「大宮」はさいたま市の武蔵一宮氷川神社です。正面向かって右側面 には「かうのす道」、左側面には「太郎ヱ門舟渡」と刻まれています。「太郎ヱ門舟渡」は、現在の県道12号川越栗橋線の太郎右衛門橋付近にあった荒川の渡場のことです。
樋詰氷川神社の前の道は、古くからの主要道路であったと考えられ、沿道には城館跡や寺社などが多く残されています。江戸時代には中山道の脇道として、また、荒川の舟運や渡河のための主要交通路として、多くの人の往来があったと思われます。この道しるべも、通行する人々の案内役として重要な役割を果たしていたことがうかがえます。

Type: Folk Cultural Property (Tangible Folk) Designated on May 29, 1996
This road sign is a small road sign with a height of about 40 cm. Built in 1771, there are "Akiha Road" and "Omiya Road" in front of it. "Akiha" is the Akiha Shrine in Sashiogi Village (currently Saitama City), which has been worshiped as a god of fire protection and theft protection, and "Omiya" is the Musashi Ichinomiya Hikawa Shrine in Saitama City. "Kaunosu Michi" is engraved on the right side of the front, and "Taro Emon Funado" is engraved on the left side. "Taro Emon Funado" is the Arakawa crossing near the Taroemon Bridge on the current Prefectural Road No. 12 Kawagoe Kurihashi Line.
The road in front of Hizume Hikawa Shrine is thought to have been a major road since ancient times, and many castle ruins and temples and shrines are left along the road. It is believed that many people came and went during the Edo period as a side road to Nakasendo and as a main transportation route for boating and crossing the Arakawa River. It can be seen that this guide also played an important role as a guide for the passing people.
