Kansenji - Shinshiro

There is a grave of Torii Suneemon. As of October 2020, it was being repaired.

It was opened in 1370 by Rinsai Soya Tenei Shakaku Osho, and due to his relationship with Osho, he received a donation from the Muromachi Shogunate Ashikaga Yoshimitsu. It has a close relationship with Sakute Okudaira, and the tombs and ranks of the hero of the Nagashino battle, Torii Goemon, are enshrined.

If you go up the approach lined with large trees, you will find a magnificent temple. From the entrance to the precincts, it has a nice atmosphere.

Today, I have been worshiping Koyamaki (evergreen Takagi) sacred trees for about 600 years, and have divided my mind from nature.

There is a tomb of Goemon Torii who saved Nagashino Castle by telling him that reinforcements were coming to Nagashino Castle during the Battle of Nagashino.

Kansenji Temple is famous for Koyamaki and is a nationally designated natural monument. The tree is said to be over 600 years old, and in 1990 it was selected as one of the "100 New Japanese Famous Trees". When you actually see it, the upper part seems to be dead, but it feels more divine than fine. In addition, the tomb of Torii Suneemon stands side by side with the tomb of his wife, Nobume Nobume. During the Battle of Nagashino, he went from Nagashino Castle (500 garrison) surrounded by the Takeda army to Okazaki Castle, where Ieyasu is, to request reinforcements. While being besieged by the 15,000 Takeda army, it is said that he passed through the siege network of the Takeda army and called 38,000 Allied forces including Oda and Tokugawa. However, after requesting reinforcements, I was caught by the Takeda army on the way back to telling me that reinforcements would come. Katsuyori learned from Suneemon that the reinforcements of Oda and Tokugawa would come to Nagashino, and in order to drop Nagashino Castle as soon as possible, he was forced to tell the castle the false information that the reinforcements would not come and should give up and surrender the castle. I ordered Uemon. He presented it on the condition that he would not only save the life of Suneemon but also treat him as a vassal of the Takeda clan if he obeyed the order. The information that reinforcements would not come was that the morale of the castle soldiers had plummeted and that the castle would soon self-destruct. Suneemon accepted Katsuyori's order and shouted to the castle from a place with a clear view of the west bank of Nagashino Castle. "Reinforcements will come in a few days, so I hope I can hold on until then!" Katsuyori was angry when he heard this, and Suneemon was killed. However, thanks to the information given with the death of Suneemon, his morale increased and he was inspired not to waste the death of Suneemon. He succeeded in protecting the castle from the attacks of the Takeda army for two days until the reinforcements arrived.

The last place I visited around the temples and shrines in Shinshiro was Kansenji. The best Koyamaki in Japan is more famous than the temple, but to be honest, I wasn't really impressed. It is also famous for the tomb of the hero Torii Suneemon of the Battle of Nagashino, but I don't know what kind of person it is, so this is also not good. When I asked for a red stamp, I was kindly refused because I didn't do it ... However, the Sugi grove on the approach to the shrine was quite overwhelming, and the atmosphere of the old temple in the mountains was very impressive. I think this temple's melon is the best choice for this cedar grove.
