M	Makoto on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 139号線沿いの筑波山の山裾にある神郡地区に伽藍が鎮座しています。創建は鎌倉時代の元亨3年(1323)に筑波山麓一帯で布教活動を続けていた乗海大和尚が開山した真言宗豊山派の寺院です。常陸の豪族小田家の祈願寺として隆盛を極め、末寺508ヶ寺を有して十万石の格式を誇り、小田領四ヶ寺の筆頭となりました。茨城県の南部に真言宗豊山派の寺院が多いのはこのためとされています。大聖寺、安楽寺、歓喜院、観音寺、聖林寺、宝幢院現在境内には宝暦2年(1752)に再建された客殿、寛政年間に再建され、平成13年に再再建された鐘楼堂、天明3年(1783)に再建された赤門、建立年月は不詳ですが筑波地域で最も古い寺社建築物のひとつである黒門などがあります。残念ながら2009年12月に寛政2年(1720)に再建された本堂が全焼し、同時に本尊の阿弥陀如来像が焼失しました。無事であった両界曼荼羅はつくば市重要文化財であり、境内には小田家供養塔や天狗党田中忠蔵鎮魂碑等があります。 The cathedral is enshrined in the Shingun district at the foot of Mt.
