★ ★ ★ ★ ★ こんなところにこんなユニークな石があったのか！解説板のところに駐車できるのでそこに停めましょう。
解説板には「鬼面石の伝説」と題して昔話を紹介しています。ざっくり説明すると、昔、このあたりの金山が盛んだったころに、大きな岩の洞穴に鬼が棲んでいて通行人から金品を強奪していた。鬼は七日びに岩から岩へ長い竿を渡し、着物を掛けて虫乾ししていたそう。これを見た者は長者になるだの盲目になるだの云われ、人々は「鬼面石(きめんせき)」と名付けたらしい。というものだった。
どうやら荒れてはいるが鬼面石のほうまで道は続いているようで、藪漕ぎしながら登っていった。すると、岩の真上まで行くことができ、ようやく岩の全貌が窺えた。大岩の上にまた小さな岩が乗っている！そこからの景色もいいもので、ぜひ下から眺めるだけでなく、上って、上から見下ろしてみてほしい。鬼面石なんて名前だし、鬼滅ブームにのっかればいい感じに宣伝になったのかも？なんて余談でした。

It seems that the demon handed a long rod from rock to rock in seven days, hung a kimono and dried insects. It is said that those who see this will become elders and blind, and it seems that people have named it "Kimenseki". It was that.
Apparently it was rough, but the road seemed to continue to the demon stone, and I climbed while rowing in the bush. Then, I was able to go right above the rock, and finally I could see the whole picture of the rock. There is another small rock on top of the large rock! The view from there is also nice, so please do not just look at it from below, but also go up and look down from above. The name is demon stone, and maybe it was promoted just like the demon annihilation boom. What a digression.
