戦国時代に斎藤氏により築城されたが、織田家が美濃を支配し森氏が代々城代となる。
しかしその後、森氏が転封を機に廃城となる。
山城の為、目立った遺構は少ない。しかし、麓には森氏の菩提寺があり森家の墓もある。
交通の便は悪い所なので攻城の際は計画的に。
すぐ近くに明智城もあるので是非、併せて攻めたい城です。
