長尾城(ながおじょう)は鎌倉時代に築かれた。長尾城の城主は岩田氏で、この地の豪族でした。戦国時代、尾張・三河の国境あたりでは、織田氏・松平氏・今川氏が一進一退の攻防を繰り広げていました。この時代、地方の小豪族はどこかの大勢力に付かねば、生き延びる事ができませんでしたので、岩田氏は当時勢いのあった今川氏に付く事にしました。しかし天文十一年（１５４３）、知多半島制覇を目論む緒川城の水野信元が南下を開始、成岩城（半田市）をあっさり落としてしまいます。水野氏は勢いに乗ってそのまま南下、長尾城も包囲されてしまいました。頼みの綱、今川の援軍は来なかったらしく、長尾城主・岩田安広は圧倒的な水野軍に抵抗も無く降伏。出家して果貞と称しました。その後長尾城は、桶狭間合戦でまた今川氏に属し、合戦後に廃城になりました。

During the Warring States period, Mr. Oda, Mr. Matsudaira, and Mr. Imagawa fought back and forth around the border between Owari and Mikawa. At this time, the small local tribes could not survive without joining a large force somewhere, so Mr. Iwata decided to join Mr. Imagawa, who had momentum at that time. However, in the 11th year of Tenbun (1543), Nobumoto Mizuno of Ogawa Castle, who is aiming to conquer the Chita Peninsula, begins to move south, and Naruiwa Castle (Handa City) is easily dropped. Mr. Mizuno took the momentum and went south as it was, and Nagao Castle was also surrounded. It seems that Imagawa's reinforcements did not come, and Yasuhiro Iwata, the lord of Nagao Castle, surrendered without resistance to the overwhelming Mizuno army. I went home and called it Kasada. After that, Nagao Castle belonged to Mr. Imagawa again in the Battle of Okehazama, and was abandoned after the battle.
