★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 新幹線にとって電源の周波数が切替わるという事は、実は大変な技術が必要で、昔はこうした技術が無かった為に皆60㎐で統一しなければなりませんでした。現在の新幹線は、車両自体で50/60㎐に対応できるようになった為、切替え場所で50-60㎐への変換が行われる様になっています。実際に東京-金沢間の最初の異周波数の境界となっている場所が「き電区分所」と呼ばれている正にここです。佐久方面へのトンネルの入口にもなっており、電線とレールそれぞれに、複雑な変換用のケーブルや切替え器が見られます。地味ですが北陸新幹線はここを含めて3ヶ所で50㎐と60㎐の切替えが行われています。鉄道マニアには楽しい写真ポイントではあります。
 For the Shinkansen, switching the power supply frequency actually required a great deal of technology, and in the past, without such a technology, everyone had to unify at 60 km. The current Shinkansen is now able to handle 50 / 60㎐ with the vehicle itself, so conversion to 50-60㎐ is being made at the switching location. The place where the first different frequency boundary between Tokyo and Kanazawa is actually called "Kiden Section" is exactly here. It is also the entrance to the tunnel towards Saku, where you can see complicated conversion cables and switches on each wire and rail. Although it is plain, the Hokuriku Shinkansen has been switched between 50 km and 60 km in 3 places including this one. Railroad mania is a fun photo point.
