Jogashima is located at the southernmost tip of the Miura Peninsula. There are many attractions such as a lighthouse and a lawn plaza on the rocky coast, which are full of nature. You can hike while admiring the beautiful scenery, play on the rocks, snorkel, and enjoy a picnic on the grassy plaza or on the beach. There are also many delicious seafood restaurants on the island, so it's worth visiting just for a meal. It's a wonderful place that is fun, delicious, and naturally healed.

Jogashima is a lonely tourist destination, but it is fun to explore the whole area leisurely. There aren't many shops that are open on weekdays, but Misaki is close by, so it's a good idea to bring your lunch and eat in the large lawn park.

Located at the southernmost tip of the Miura Peninsula, it is the largest natural island in Kanagawa prefecture that juts out into Sagami Nada, which is one of the few in the metropolitan area. Prefectural Jogashima Park spreads out in the eastern half, and it is an island with a long and narrow rhombus shape in the east and west with a width of about 1.8 km from east to west and a width of about 0.6 km from north to south. There are four capes: Abogasaki on the east side, Nagatsurosozaki on the west side, Akabanezaki, which is famous for the Uma-no-seidomon on the south side, and Yugasaki on the north side. In particular, it will be a playground for the sea where you can enjoy rocky shore play anywhere along the coast from Nagatsurosozaki on the west side to the Jogashima hiking course. In addition, there is a sandy beach of shells around the Abosaki Lighthouse on the east side, where you can enjoy playing on the rocks and picking up shells. As a tourist attraction, the "Uma-no-seidomon", a sea-eroded rock that has been eroded by wind and waves and has become a natural monument, is famous. , Himeu, and Kurosagi are habitats and are designated as a natural monument of the prefecture. Also, on Jogashima, you can see the Miura Group and the Kanto Loam Formation, which are mainly composed of alternating layers of pyroclastic sandstone and mudstone deposited on the seabed about 10 to 4 million years ago, so it is recommended for those who are interested in the strata.

★ Check out the Pix4Japan YouTube channel for the vlog made for this photo shoot! Photo 1. Power of the Ocean Rougher waters of Tokyo Bay make for some powerful waves as they hit the shore of Jogashima Island at the tip of the Miura Peninsula located about 75 km due south of Tokyo. Photo 2. Offshore Winds As the tide thrusts waves towards shore, an offshore wind blows against the crests of waves in a head-to-head battle of natural forces. Photo 3. Bathe in Golden Light As cold, dark, winter blue ocean waves crash against the rocks, the rising sun bathes the harsh coldness with soft, warm, golden sunshine. Photo 4. Explosion of Water The collision of waves is so enthralling that it’s easy to lose track of time and find yourself stuck out on the outcrop as the tide rises and cuts off all passages to dry land. Photo 5. Ocean Spray Offshore winds shred the crests of waves pounding the rocky coastline as the morning light catches droplets of ocean spray midair creating a dazzling mist of glistening beads of light.
