★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Injury while on vacation. I had an ankle twist while walking from Kyoto Station stairs. It got swollen so badly and next morning I came here. This hospital was suggested by my Insurance « ALIANZ”. And after reading reviews I was happy. They took care of me and had a translated who was with me from start to finish. Doctor attempted some English. Everything was so smooth.only because it was not an emergency I had to wait longer to be see . I arrived at 9am and by 2pm I was out.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ To the General Medicine Department - Dr Hamashima
Medical Support Office - Sayaka Yamanaka (translater)
My name is Romena Nancarrow, my daughter Tori attended the emergency department in February whilst on a family holiday, Sayaka greeted us immediately at the front counter and stayed with us for the whole day, my daughter was diagnosed with a Kidney infection by Dr Hamashima, we were so well looked after and Sayaka was with us for every ultra sound, blood test and then finally a bag of saline and antibiotic. She was amazing and my family and myself cannot speak more highly of her. Your hospital should be very proud to have amazing staff like these two, plus all the other nursing staff that looked after my daughter. We just wanted to say THANK YOU for making a very scary time i.e. in a foreign country with limited English a very comforting and great outcome.
Thank you from the Nancarrow Family

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you are a foreigner looking for a hospital, do not hesitate to come here. I had hurt my ankle and after a day or wrapping and icing it, it was only getting worse. I showed up at 11:30, they had an English translator take me from department to department - registration, orthopedics, X-ray, back to orthopedics, then to PT for crutches, then some office where they helped me find clinics to remove my cast in Tokyo, and then of course billing. The entire process took 3.5 hours. Really it was amazing - and it only cost $236!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Good for foreigners. I went here with bad gastro issues I suspected to be stomach flu but was worried about it being much worst. When I arrived, the front desk didn't speak English but handed me a sheet to check off all the symptoms and information to be given to doctors who do. I had to use Google translate for the initial nurse, but not for the later doctors.
Pros:
- two good enough English speaking doctors
- on-hand English translator
- thorough, attentive
- relatively cheap (bed, IV, blood test, two meds for gastro issues came up to roughly 28,000 yen) which is cheap enough to get covered by Canadian healthcare
- wait time was in total 45min to see a doctor/get a bed
Cons:
- washrooms not the cleanest
- slight language barrier (Google translate app can help with this)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I am English and speak only a little Japanese, I came to the Hospital Respiratory Department today 9/24/2020 I was seen by a lady Doctor who explained everything to me perfectly in English, all the staff there right from all the reception staff to all the technicians and my Doctor were so patient and took me and showed me everything, I was amazed by their friendly, professional manner at all times even though they were so busy.
Today I was extremely worried about my medical condition, but I had a calming, caring, wonderful experience there as a worried foreigner.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is only my second Google review, but the hospital deserves the time to write it, and I hope it might help someone in an emergency. This is the best hospital care I've ever received, and I've traveled to over 60 countries. While I was stuck here in Japan because of COVID, I had an accident. I was taken there by ambulance (Kyoto Fire Dept., also wonderful), seen in ER, admitted, had major surgery, hospitalization, and underwent months of rehabilitation. The entire staff is world-class. If you have a serious injury, highly recommend. If you have a minor health problem, consider a private clinic first as you will likely need a referral - but reception is very kind and you can always go ask for advice. I hope the leadership of the hospital will find this and commend their staff for the incredible care of foreigners (and of course all of the Japanese nationals) here.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My daughter had a tonsils removal operation here, she was hospitalized for almost a week, everything was good, every nurses and doctors were nice and friendly. I went to visit her every day, and even if I was a little bit out of the visiting time (I am very busy with my job), they always let me be with my daughter a little bit more.
