★ ★ ★ ★ ★ この神社は、出雲大社の大鳥居前から日本海に抜ける29号線の北にある、奉納山公園の山頂に鎮座しています。
御祭神は手尺の神、工匠の祖神、讃岐忌部氏の祖である手置帆負命(ておきほおいのみこと)、尺度(さし)を掌る神、工匠の祖神である彦狭知命(ひこさしりのみこと)です。この二神は天岩戸神楽の砌り 材木を伐り、宮殿の造営をされた神で、後に 出雲大社の造営にも奉仕されました。二神ともに工匠の祖神であり、家の守護神として尊崇されています。
奉納山の山頂には、綺麗に紅葉した山々と穏やかな日本海が遠望できる展望台も建っており、とても景観の良い、晴れ晴れとした気持ちになれる神社です。
This shrine sits on the summit of Mt. Bonnoyama Park, north of Route 29, which leads to the Sea of Japan from the front of Otorii at Izumo Taisha Shrine.

It's a little uphill from the road below, but the observatory at Honozan Park next door is a wonderful view.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 出雲大社の敷地外の摂社です。大社から1キロちょっと？歩くと結構な階段と急勾配を上り切ったところにある小さなお社です。途中には歌舞伎の祖である阿国の塔があります。山の麓には登り口が二ヶ所、片方に鳥居がありますが、八大荒神社の鳥居で手斧神社のそれではありません。
It is a Setsumatsusha outside the premises of Izumo Taisha. A little over a kilometer from the shrine? It is a small shrine located on a staircase and a steep slope when you walk. On the way there is the tower of Okuni, the ancestor of Kabuki. There are two climbing points at the foot of the mountain, and there is a torii gate on one side, but it is the torii gate of the Hachidaiara Shrine and not that of the Teono Shrine.
