There are old burial mounds where you can only see the outside or the inside, such as a side hole type, but it is better to put it inside.

Stunning stone room construction. Isn't Emperor Saimei involved in any way?

2013 GW. The first old burial mound that I got off at Asuka station for the first time, rented an electric bicycle, and went up a narrow alley with my feet. This is something that is normally located between private houses, so I was surprised. I entered the stone chamber with advanced stone processing and masonry, and stroked the stone with all my might.

It is located near Asuka Station on the Kintetsu Kashihara Line. It is near the crossing on the north side. There is a parking space right in front of the tumulus, but it is safer to walk along the narrow road. It is a valuable tumulus that can be freely entered in the entrance room. It is said that it is an emperor-class tomb of the 7th century with its wonderful stonework and precision cutting stone processing technology.

It is thought to have been built from the middle to the late 7th century, with a side of about 40m and a height of about 12m. According to the excavation survey, it seems to be a square burial mound. It seems that there are also indications (in that case, it will be almost the Imperial Household Agency project ...). The burial facility is a double-sleeve type side-hole type stone chamber made of megaliths with a total length of about 17.8 m that has been processed with ashlar, and it is possible to enter the inside of the stone chamber. Since there is a possibility of an octagonal burial mound, Emperor Saimei and Princess Kibitsu are listed as candidates for burial. I think the beautiful stone chamber of the cut stone megalith is worth a visit. There is also an explanation board for the tumulus in front of the tumulus.
