★ ★ ★ ★ ★ この坂は、谷田川通りから西ヶ原3-30の不動院墓地までの坂で、名称は昔、不動院境内にあった熊野神社に由来します。江戸時代の地図によれば、当時の不動院の境内はこの坂に面していて、その北の隅に宝永(1704～1711)年間にまつられたという熊野神社が描かれています。つきあたりの道は鎌倉道といわれ、本郷台地から推定豊島郡衙跡に至るので鎌倉時代以前の道とも考えられます。
This slope is from Yatagawa Street to the Fudoin Cemetery at 3-30 Nishigahara, and the name comes from the Kumano Shrine, which used to be in the precincts of Fudoin. According to the map of the Edo period, the precincts of Fudoin at that time faced this slope, and the Kumano shrine that was enshrined in the Hoei (1704-1711) year is drawn in the north corner. The road at the end is called the Kamakura Road, which is considered to be a road before the Kamakura period because it leads from the Hongo Plateau to the estimated Toyoshima-gun site.
