普段、散策通路になっていない場所にあります。豊橋公園を北側（豊川方向）に一度抜け、堀の底を豊川側から南に歩いていくと見学できます。もともとはお堀の底なので鬱蒼としていましたが、現在は堀の落ち葉、石垣の清掃が行き届いて見通しが良くなっています。吉田城とその石垣が400年以上前の安土桃山時代（1600年頃）に作られ、それが今でも残っている貴重な史跡とのこと。江戸時代に修復された部分と、もともとあった石垣は、石の種類や色艶も異なる上に、よく見ると積み上げ直した痕跡がくっきりラインとなって残っています。離れてみるとよくわかります。数百年もの間修復されながら、しっかり残っていると思うと感慨深いものがあります。再建された鉄櫓の北西側にある石垣も当時の原型を保っているそうで、よく見ると石の色や、「小さな石を大きな石の隙間にしっかり挟み込んで組み上げている方法」が似ています。

Yoshida Castle and its stone wall were built over 400 years ago during the Azuchi-Momoyama period (around 1600), and it is said to be a valuable historic site that still remains. The part restored in the Edo period and the original stone wall have different types of stones and different colors, and if you look closely, you can see the traces of re-stacking as a clear line. You can see it from a distance. It has been restored for hundreds of years, and I am deeply moved to think that it remains firmly. It seems that the stone wall on the northwest side of the reconstructed iron turret also retains the original shape at that time, and if you look closely, the color of the stone and "the method of firmly sandwiching a small stone in the gap of a large stone and assembling it" are similar. 最近発見され話題になった石垣ですが、現地に特に説明板もなく周囲には木が茂っていて見つけられませんでした。後日、川沿いの遊歩道から空堀に入っていけば見学できるとわかりましたが、いずれにせよまだ一般的ではないようです。
