嘗ては南海平野線が分岐していた。東の方に阿倍野斎場へ向かっていた。今となってその痕跡は見つけられなかった。電車の本数も上町線にメインルートが移って減ってしまった。

1980年11月末頃迄の南海電鉄統合時代、南海平野線廃止に伴い飛田電停の代わりに新設された南海電鉄軌道線最後の電停。 昔、電停東側道路はロータリーとなっていて、現在よりも電車本数がはるかに多く、踏みきりが原因で 車が身動き出来ずしばしば道路は大渋滞が発生していたが、現在は電車本数大幅減と道路もロータリーを廃止しT字路信号機に換わり 道路の渋滞は発生しなくなった。 通常踏みきりや 道路信号機手前に電停が設けているのが一般的だが、両方向とも此の電停は踏みきりを越えた先に千鳥配置の乗降ホームが有り、他の電停に比べてホーム長が短く電車がギリギリで停車する。 電停新設3日後からは、南海電鉄から阪堺軌道に会社が譲渡された電停‼
