★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 境内に通じる道に架かる冠木門の説明板によると、法善寺は、戦国時代の1512年（永正年間）麻績城主服部左衛門清信が開基となり、賢甫宗俊禅師を迎えて、曹洞宗佛眼山法善寺（遠州奥山村善住寺末寺）として再興されてから、現在にいたっているそうです。
それ以前にあったのは法相宗巌龍山西谷寺という寺院で、それは奈良興福寺の末寺だったらしく、興福寺の前身、山階寺の寺領「信濃二百戸」と記されたのひとつが、この西谷寺を中心とした地域と見られているということです。
その後荒廃し、1492年に西谷寺は廃寺となったそうです。
さて、法善寺本堂の向拝破風に飾られている寺紋は、武田家系の四つ花菱です。つまり、法善寺は武田家と深い関係にあったことを物語っています。
寺には武田信玄の高札や書状が残されているそうです。武田信玄の信濃攻略にさいして、この寺は大きな役割を果たしたようです。
According to the explanation board of the crown tree gate that spans the road leading to the precincts, Hozenji Temple was opened by Kiyonobu Hattori Saemon, the lord of Omi Castle in 1512 (Eisho era) during the Warring States period. It is said that it has been revived as Okuyama Village Zenjuji Sueji) and continues to the present day.
Before that, there was a temple called Hosou Sect Iwaryuzan Nishitani-ji, which seems to be the last temple of Nara Kofuku-ji, and one of the temple territories of Yamaka-ji, the predecessor of Kofuku-ji, was written as "Shinano 200". It means that it is seen as an area centered on Nishitani Temple.
After that, it was devastated, and in 1492 Nishitani-ji was abandoned.
By the way, the temple crest that is displayed in the gable of the Hozenji main hall is the four Hanabishi of the Takeda family. In other words, Hozenji has a close relationship with the Takeda family.
It is said that Shingen Takeda's kosatsu and letters are left in the temple. It seems that this temple played a major role in the capture of Shingen by Shingen Takeda.

ここで信濃三十三観音の御朱印帳１２００円も買えます．そして２番札所の御朱印もここでいただきます．ご住職に頂きました．堂内も大変きれいです．なお，ここから２番札所へは２００Mとか書いてありましたが，，できれば車で坂を登って駐車場に停め，そこから歩いて登ったほうがよいです．
