七	七面鳥放浪記 on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 幕末期に活躍した「越後のミケランジェロ」こと石川雲蝶の彫刻を所蔵する浄土真宗の寺院です。西福寺、永林寺に比べれば彫刻の量と密度では及ばないものの、質の高さはさすがです。西福寺、永林寺の彫刻はそれぞれの寺院向けに作られたオーダーメイドですが、ここのものは明治の新潟大火を期に縁あって他の寺院から集められたものです。自由に拝観できる雲蝶の作品は本堂向拝を飾る木鼻の獅子と、内陣欄間のうち十六羅漢像三面のみとなりますが、事前予約により拝観可能な宝物庫には数々の収集されています。すべて本堂に取り付けられていればさぞやの見ごたえであったろうとは思いますが、宝物庫にあるからこそ間近に鑑賞できるというメリットもあります。年配の御住職夫妻のみで運営している小さな檀家寺なので、予約にあたってもお寺の都合にあわせることになります。一度は旅程があわずスルーしたのですが、あらためて訪れて大いに満足した次第です。 It is a temple of the Jodo Shinshu sect that holds the sculpture of Ishikawa Uncho, also known as "Michelangelo of Echigo", which was active in the late Tokugawa period. Compared to Saifukuji and Eirinji, the quantity and density of the sculptures are not as high, but the quality is truly high. The sculptures of Saifukuji and Eirinji are made to order for each temple, but the ones here were collected from other temples during the Great Fire of Niigata in the Meiji era. Uncho's works that can be freely viewed are only the lion of the tree nose that decorates the main hall and the three sides of the 16 Arhat statues in the Chancel column, but many are collected in the treasure house that can be viewed by advance reservation. .. I think it would have been a sight to see if all of them were installed in the main hall, but there is also the advantage that you can appreciate them up close because they are in the treasure house. Since it is a small Dankeji temple operated only by the elderly abbot and his wife, it will be convenient for the temple to make a reservation. I passed through the itinerary once, but I was very happy to visit again.
