Located at the foot of the southwestern part of Mt. Shichiho, Hojuji is a temple with beautiful cherry blossoms in spring and colored leaves in autumn. Takamuro Elementary School, which is the whole body of this temple, was located near Takamuro Elementary School, an ancient temple that was built in the Tenpyo era (8th century). The principal image is the statue of Amida Nyorai, which is said to have been made by Gyoki Bosatsu. The height of the hinoki cypress wooden statue is 97 cm, and the sign of arrival is tied, and the carving is deep with a gentle face, showing the characteristics of the late Kamakura period. Kannon and Mahasthamaprapta are the side samurai, but this Buddha statue is also considered to be from the same period. The hanging Buddha is made of bronze with a diameter of 10 cm and a thickness of 2 mm, with a Buddha statue in the center and vases on the left and right, and is thought to be from the late Kamakura period to the early Muromachi period. Both Amida Nyorai and Susumu Buddha are tangible cultural properties designated by Kanonji City. After that, due to several fires, it was moved to the present location one after another from the Tenpyo era (16th century), and the temple name was changed to Hojuji, and one of the Seven Lucky Gods, the Budai statue, has been enshrined and continues to the present day.
