元亀（げんき）4年(1573)創建。浄土真宗本願寺派本尊阿弥陀如来。
石山合戦のとき本願寺に味方し、後に顕如上人の十字名号を授かり寺宝になっている。11世住職の僧了は咸宜園(かんぎえん・広瀬淡窓の塾)に学び、詩文をよくしたという。

Founded in 1573, Genki 4th year. Jodo Shinshu Honganji School Honzon Amida Nyorai.
During the Ishiyama Battle, he sided with Honganji Temple and later received the cross name of Kosa Shonin and became a temple treasure. It is said that the 11th chief priest learned from Kangien (Kangien / Hirose Tanso no Juku) and improved his poetry.
