★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 山号を白鳳山と号し、未曽有の大曼荼羅を本尊とする顕本法華宗の寺院で、白鳳2(674)年に浪速四天王寺の僧が白鳳山と号し、永徳元(1381)年7月に僧・日什が開山したと云われています。境内には、白子町の文化財に指定されている延宝年中(1673~1680年)の建立とされる『本法寺山門』と延宝8(1680)年の建立とされる『本法寺の宝篋(ほうきょう)印塔』と昭和15(1940)年11月に建碑された『史跡尚徳校の碑』があります。山門前と奥にも駐車スペースあり、本堂裏にトイレもありました。
 The mountain is named Hakuhozan, and it is a temple of the Kenhon Hokke Buddhism, which has an unprecedented Omandara as its main deity. It is said that the monk, Nissha, opened in July of the year. In the precincts, "Honhoji Sanmon", which was designated as a cultural property of Shirako town during the year of Enho (1673-1680), and "Honhoji" which was erected in 1680. There is the "Houki Into" and the "Monument of Historic Site Shotoku School", which was built in November 1940. There were parking spaces in front of and behind the gate, and there was a toilet behind the main hall.
