讃留霊王神社(讃留霊王古墳)の北東に有った古代寺院の跡地に有る小さな寺院です。第十二代景行天皇の時代、大和朝廷より讃岐の国造として派遣され、この国を治めた王子(讃留霊王)の墳墓の地に王子の子孫が代々繁栄し、これらの家の氏寺として創建されたのが古代法勲寺です。県下でも最も古いお寺の一つであり七堂伽藍を備えた大寺でした。時は移り平安時代に弘法大師空海がこの寺を再興された折、薬師如来の像を造ると記されており薬師如来をご本尊とする真言宗の寺院と成りました。その後法勲寺は盛衰を繰り返し、廃寺と成り小さな庵のみと成って居ました。ここの地名から村井庵と云い地元の方々や現住職の先々代で守られていたようです。昭和二十三年に宗教法人への登録にさいし浄土真宗興正派讃王山法勲寺として現在ね位置に建立され現在に至ります。ご住職は不在でしたが奥様が丁寧に対応して頂き気持ち良くお詣りさせて頂きました。ご本尊は阿弥陀如来様です。本堂の左側には法勲寺ゆかりの五重の供養石塔が安置されていたり、最近再建された薬師堂等々有りますし、近くには古代法勲寺跡、讃留霊王神社(讃留霊王前方後円墳)、他にも神社が有り散策にお勧めします。

It is a small temple on the site of an ancient temple northeast of Sarureo Shrine (Sarureo Tomb). During the time of the 12th Emperor Keiko, he was dispatched from the Yamato Imperial Court as a national building of Sanuki, and the descendants of the prince prospered for generations at the tomb of the prince (Sanroku Reiou) who ruled this country. The ancient Hokunji Temple was built as a temple. It was one of the oldest temples in the prefecture and was a large temple with the Shichido garan. When Kobo Daishi Kukai rebuilt this temple during the Heian period, it was written that it would build a statue of Yakushi Nyorai, and it became a temple of the Shingon sect with Yakushi Nyorai as its principal image. After that, Hokunji Temple continued to rise and fall, becoming an abandoned temple and becoming only a small hermitage. From the place name here, it seems that it was protected by the local people called Murai-an and the predecessors of the current priest. In 1945, when it was registered as a religious corporation, it was erected at the present position as Jodo Shinshu Kosho School Sannoyama Hoshoji Temple and continues to the present day. The priest was absent, but my wife responded politely and I was happy to apologize. The principal image is Amida Nyorai. On the left side of the main hall, there is a five-storied memorial stone pagoda related to Hokunji Temple, a recently rebuilt Yakushido, etc. There are other shrines, such as the Hokunji burial mound, which is recommended for walking.
