The staff isn't trained to speak English, but they try and they succeed in discussing what you'd like to do with your hair. When you get a complimentary member's card, it means that they will keep notes about your preferences when you return. It's really cool that I can show up and they remember how I like my hair to be styled. Sometimes I forget to bring my card, but since I'm a regular and I am also a foreigner, they always remember me. Although I don't always get my favourite stylist when I show up without an appointment, they all check the notes and give me exactly the haircut that I wanted upon arriving. The stylists are really friendly and good at what they do. They will small talk when I get my haircut and they will (appreciatively) not small talk if I'm stressed out and not in the mood. Actually, that brings me to one great moment I experienced here--I was really stressed out about something at work and halfway through my haircut, my favourite stylist paused and asked me if my haircut was okay, because I had a disappointed look on my face. Now that, that is something special right there. I immediately apologized--I had been lost in thought mulling over the daily grind at work, and my hair stylist was intuitive enough to check if I was happy with my hair cut. I was embarrassed that I was telegraphing my distress, but I felt like a million bucks with my fantastic hair cut. Long story short, this place costs about 4 bucks more than the place up the street, but the service is amazing and the stylists are really nice and caring people.
