境内は広いが、特に何かある訳でもなく自然公園のような印象を受けた。

拝殿の奥に、本殿を構えるしっかりとした造り。境内もよく整備され、駐車スペースもある。
「天祖神社」は、天照大神または伊勢内外宮の神を祀った神社だが、江戸時代までは「神明社」「太（大）神宮」と呼ばれていたはずだ。明治初年に東京府が、府域にあるそれら神社を改称させた。

江戶川区史 - 第 3 巻 - 88 ページに
「神明社といって天大御神と祭神とし、旧笹ヶ崎村の鎮守であった。弘治元年(一五五五)の創六天祖神社東小岩一丁目三二番三号の水帳に除地二畝一二歩の記載がある。明治四十五年に本殿が新築された。境内に北原白秋の歌碑がある。旧小岩田村の鎮守、祭神は天照大神」
と、あります。
境内には社務所兼北東自治会館がありますが、普段は無人です。
篠崎浅間神社の兼務社ですので、御用の際は本務社の篠崎浅間神社へ連絡することになります。
駐車場があり境内とあわせて広いので、子供たちがボール蹴りして遊んでいました。
今時、ボール遊びができる貴重な遊び場のようです。
お手水のうしろに、手漕ぎポンプの井戸があり、漕ぐと水が出ます。
境内にトイレはなく、徒歩5分くらいで、江戸川河川敷のグランドまで行けばあります。
境内に灯りが少なく、夕方遅くなると暗かったです。
