★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 1990年4月に自転車で伊南側から越えました。
古町で食購してから多々石林道に取り掛かります。ちょっとした住宅地を抜けるとすぐにダートになりました。当時から悪路として名を馳せていた林道ですが、アプローチは田圃の横の長閑な道です。沢に沿ってもう随分登ったなと思う頃に、道の横に広がっている畑があります。雪解け後の間もない時期なのでまだ作物はありませんが、耕された畑は春の訪れを待っているようです。すぐに家が数軒ありましたが既に無人のようです。先ほどの畑の主が住んでいたのでしょうか。
ここからが悪路の本番です。すぐに路面は荒れて藪が両側から迫ってきます。周囲に雪が現れてきました。軽自動車さえ通れるのかと思うほどの狭い道を半ば押しながら登っていきます。すると思いもかけず広い空間に出ました。戸板峠は一面の雪で、朽ちた木の根元に峠の看板が置かれています。どちらから登ってきたのか、雪面には幾筋かの轍が残されています。
一頻り休憩して針生へと下り始めると、すぐに雪が深くなります。サイドバッグの重みで雪に沈んだ前輪を引き摺るようにして前進を続けます。どれ程の時間、押したでしょうか、やっと雪が減ってきました。現れた道には大きな石がゴロゴロとして乗れたものではありませんが、それでも今までとは大違いで足取りも進みます。ついに国道289に出ました。大いなる達成感に満ちて会津田島へと下るのでした。

After purchasing food in Furumachi, we will start on the Tadaishi forest road. As soon as I passed through a small residential area, it became a dirt road. The forest road has been famous as a bad road since that time, but the approach is a long and quiet road next to the rice fields. By the time I think I've climbed along the river, there is a field on the side of the road. There are no crops yet as it is just after the thaw, but the plowed fields seem to be waiting for the arrival of spring. There were several houses soon, but it seems that they are already unmanned. Did the owner of the field live there?
From here is the production of the bad road. Immediately the road surface becomes rough and bushes approach from both sides. Snow has appeared around me. I will climb while pushing the narrow road halfway, which makes me think that even a light car can pass. Then, I unexpectedly went out into a large space. The Toita Pass is covered with snow, and the signboard of the pass is placed at the base of the decayed tree. There are some ruts left on the snow surface, depending on which side you climbed from.
As soon as you take a break and start descending to Hariu, the snow gets deeper. The weight of the side bag drags the front wheel that has sunk in the snow to continue moving forward. I wonder how long I pushed it, and finally the snow has decreased. A big stone wasn't rugged on the road that appeared, but it's still a big difference and the steps are going on. Finally, I went to National Highway 289. I went down to Aizu Tajima with a great sense of accomplishment.
