関ヶ原の戦(1600年)に祭し、徳 川家康の東軍にくみした前八幡城主の 遠藤慶隆は西軍に味方した。稲葉貞通が犬山城にこもる間に、子の通孝が留守居する八幡城を攻めた。 九月一日、激闘をかさねた末に、よう やく一の門を突破して、この二の郭に殺到した。一方、桜町方面から攻め登った金森可重の一隊は、城方の強固な防戦にあい、これを抜くことができず 東木戸を破って二の郭へなだれこんだ。 こうして遠藤、金森両軍が、東と南から攻めこんだために、しばらくは同志 討ちが起こり、やがて両者は連合して 二の門に突き進み二の丸の攻撃を始めたのである。
Nikoku

While Sadamichi Inaba stayed in Inuyama Castle, he attacked Hachiman Castle, where his child, Mitsutaka, was away. On September 1st, after a fierce battle, he finally broke through the first gate and rushed to the second Guo. On the other hand, the corps of Arishige Kanamori who attacked from the direction of Sakuramachi met the strong defense of the castle and could not pass it, defeated Higashi Kido and avalanche into Nikoku. In this way, the Endo and Kanamori troops attacked from the east and the south, causing amicable fire for a while, and eventually they united and rushed to the Ninomon and launched the Ninomaru attack.
