The process of establishing the Izu Peninsula by video was very easy to understand, and there are many actual exhibits. It's a short walk from the center of Shuzenji, but it's worth a visit! And it's free!

S	Samuel Nathan Richards on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Absolutely incredible museum. Anyone keen to learn about the geological history of Japan, the Mt Fuji region and the Izu Peninsula should visit here. Not only does Shuzenji have a quaint town with lovely hot springs, but also a rich history formed over millions of years. The museum is a single large room, but don’t let that put you off as it is packed full of extremely informative and interesting displays and hands on exhibits. Information throughout is both in Japanese and English, even the introduction video which was excellent. Expect to spend a couple of hours here to take it all in, and an hour if you’re just browsing. Enjoy this wonderful place that is also free! It is a global UNESCO GeoPark.
