Because it came at the end of February, there was no green and it was like a big sandstone that was bumpy (^^; In a sense it may be artistic ...

2017.11.2 During the mound maintenance, the mud inside the north stone chamber was discharged to the lower part of the sarcophagus, and we could see the inside. A beautiful skeleton sarcophagus. After maintenance, may it be off limits? I was lucky.

I didn't approach because the construction vehicle was stopped in front of the tumulus and it seemed impossible to enter. I should have confirmed it just in case.

Both mounds where two mounds of 25 m side are arranged in east and west on the mound of long side 60 m short side 25 m. It is estimated that the construction time is from the first half of the 7th century to the second half. National Designated Historic Site. The shape of the two mounds is an ancient tomb that connects two mules together, and I have never seen it much elsewhere. It is said that each tomb has a side-hole type stone room of almost the same shape and the same size. It is highly likely that plaster was painted on the entire surface of the stone room, and the buried person is regarded as a great family relationship. (¯o¯) / Unlike Yamada Takatsuka ancient tomb in the west, I am thankful to put it inside the old tumulus, but the mound is collapsing partly. Because both are buried mounds, if you focus on conservation and maintenance of the tomb a little more tourists may come.

It is presumed to be built around the end of the Kofun period and the late 7th century (or mid 7th century / early 1st century). The peculiar form of two-sided was created following the customs at the end of the period when mortuaries became common. Although the burials are not clear, there is a tradition that they will be the true burial graves of the 33rd Empress Emperor Emperor Takeda, who was unknown in the last year. It looks similar to Yamada Takatsuka Tumulus (about 200 meters west of Futakozuka Tumulus), which is the current funeral mausoleum. It is possible to climb the mound, and the excavated remains remain.

You can see the tomb of Emperor Suiko in front of you. There is a Ueyama Tumulus in Kashihara City, and at first it was temporarily buried in the Ueyama Tumulus in hopes of a burial with Prince Takeda. There is a legend in the local area when it is a human grave. There is a romantic theory, but honestly, it is an old burial mound that is a little too lonely for the Emperor Suiko Mausoleum. It seems that there was a parent and child who made it nearby because of the future Suiko parent and child. Feel the romance ☆ 5 Cherry blossoms bloom in spring, and the rural scenery around it is wonderful, and you can enjoy it along with the tombs of Emperor Shiko and Ono no Imoko. (postscript) Today I was running on the road where I could see the Futakozuka tumulus, and I was surprised that there were no cherry blossom trees in the tumulus. I went to the tumulus in a hurry and saw it, but it turned out to be a buzz cut. After the archaeological excavation recently, I was interested in future restoration, but it is difficult to conclude that it was better not to see it, although it may be in the middle of the process. In fact, a large tree is hugging like a lid stone. Was it better to dispose of the burial mounds in order to protect the burial mounds than to leave the cherry trees halfway? ?? ?? (Sakura was beautiful in the past photos ...)

Interesting to see the two mounds in their current opened state. You can see into the burial chamber of the north mound. The view of the tambo and mountains is beautiful, and you can also see Suiko Tenno ryo from here. One of few mounds you can currently touch.
