The quality of the food is very high and whereas it's more expensive than a normal set lunch in town (Y1500), it is way cheaper than the restaurants near Uji Station or the main temple. The shop downstairs is also very well put together.
D	Darren Tan on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Bought some matcha puddings and jelly from Fukujuen. Very polite staff who were knowledgeable about their products. They also sell matcha ice cream and you can sit outside their store facing the river to enjoy the view.

He was really friendly and helpful! The museum is rather small but informative and there is a video about tea production in English. The tea house and cafe sell beautiful desserts. We had the shaved ice with matcha and hojicha flavour. 1000¥ is a reasonable price for a dessert since all ingredients were good quality. I recommend this place and the atmosphere here is more relaxed than in Uji downtown near the station or Kyoto.

T	Tiphaine M M on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I’ve done the matcha grinding experience here twice and eaten at the restaurant here once as well (delicious). I’d wholeheartedly recommend the experience. It’s such good value and a fantastic time! There’s also the shop for all your tea needs and the green tea ‘museum’ downstairs to explain the green tea / matcha making process.

Clockwise from the top left - gyokuro tempura, boiled vegetables, tea (to pour into the rice), tea salt, gyokuro tea (for drinking), tai fish, rice. Also tried the gyokuro ice cream and white bean paste soup with gyokuro sauce. The ice cream was not bad, quite milky and flavourful. The white bean paste soup was too sweet, wouldn't recommend it. Main peeve - service was polite but unfriendly.

We wanted to try milling the matcha, but ended up only watching the video on how different kinds of tea are made/processed in their mini museum. Because there were only us visiting, the staff made us the matcha with gold flakes for sampling.
