 In April 2021, I stopped by on my road bike on the way to Healthy Road. There is a description of the ruins of Nakasendo in the Edo period.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 中山道・間の宿碑とその説明板が設置されている。間の宿とは、鴻巣宿と熊谷宿の間、正式には中山道の宿場町として認められていなかった吹上宿（千人同心街道では宿場町）のことである。中山道はこの陸橋を渡って線路を越えて、線路沿いの道を西へ向かって歩いていく。
A monument to Nakasendo and Ma and the explanation board for it are installed. The Ma-no-Yado is the Fukiage-juku, which was not officially recognized as a post town on the Nakasendo, between Kounosu and Kumagaya-juku (the post town on the Sennin Doshinkaido). The Nakasendo crosses this overpass, crosses the track, and walks west along the road along the track.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 中山道鴻巣宿と熊谷宿の「間の宿」だった吹上。
説明看板が旧中山道と榛名通りの立体交差の真下にひっそりと設置されています。
説明文を読むと、吹上が街道の「間の宿」であったことの説明が書いてありますが、駅前などの栄えている場所ではなく、なぜここに？
どうやら江戸時代はここが中山道と日光脇往還（ここの説明板では日光火の番道と称しています）の四辻であったためだと思われます。
この辺りは今は静かな住宅地ですが、わずか300年前は通行客相手の商店や旅籠が100軒あまりも連なっていて、賑わっていたそうです。
Fukiage was the "Ai no shuku" between Konosu-shuku and Kumagai-shuku on Nakasendo.
An explanation signboard is quietly installed just below the grade separation between the old Nakasendo and Haruna Street.
When you read the explanation, it says that Fukiage was a "Ai no shuku" on the highway, but why is it here, not in a prosperous place such as in front of a station?
Apparently, in the Edo period, this was the four Tsuji roads of Nakasendo and Nikko Waki (referred to as Nikko Fire's guard road in the explanation board here).
This area is now a quiet residential area, but only 300 years ago, there were about 100 shops and hatago for passers-by, and it was crowded.
