また上杉氏が徳川の会津攻めに備えた陣地の一つでもあります。
道谷坂から東に6キロメートル余りの長沼城は、上杉氏が関東口の抑えの為に整備した城でした。
また、江戸時代の『会津要害録』にも道谷坂は書かれています。
そんな往時に思いを馳せるのも、旅の楽しみと思います。
