Donen Inari Jinja - Yokohama

Although it is a Dominin Inari Shrine, it is an Inari Shrine according to the registration of the Kanagawa Prefectural Shrine Agency. The management shrine is Sugiyama Shrine in Kishiya. Being related to Sugiyama Shrine with a history of 1200 years is amazing. It is also good that it is the birthplace of the traditional event "snakes and mosquitos". The woods of the main shrine are the lions of Aun (in front), the lions and the backs (imaginary animals with elephant's nose, rhino's eyes, tiger's foot, and cow's tail). The shape of the roof is temple-shaped. There is a coat of arms in the main wing, a devil at the end, and a devil at the lower end of the drop. There is a ridge towards the corner and there is a demon decoration in the corner. In addition to this, it is a place that is a little proud of the presence of Tang Gauze from the front. The eaves are slightly curved. At the entrance of the approach, a new deity Jizozan is built. The temple was originally run by a temple since it was a temple in Beicho Ryusenji, but it was replaced by Sugiyama Shrine by the separation of shrines and shrines in the Meiji period. Ryusenji Temple is written as Sugiyama Myojin Betsuto. Torii is a form of "Myojin torii" that draws a curve on top of the upper larch and a larch on top. It is a torii that can be often seen in the Shinto-Buddha Buddhist festival. The PVC Torii is now becoming mainstream. The old Tokaido is a back road that goes under the guard of Kokudo Station on the Tsurumi Line. A part of it is called Uogashi-dori, and the fish shop is open only in the morning. If you go a little further, there is a monument (signboard) of the Namamugi Incident, and the name is Namamugi Kaido before you know it. It's really a brilliant area along the old Tokaido line, but it's fun to discover something unexpected when you walk around, but the encounter with Donen Inari Shrine may be the biggest event. The second is Nanmon Hanten. I was quite surprised when I suddenly found a line of red torii gates along the approach to the shrine in the middle of a residential area. The number was unexpectedly large and it was magnificent, and above all, the vermilion color was so vivid. I learned later that it was actually the latest material. That's beautiful. At the end of the approach is the main shrine of Donen Inari Shrine. Although it is compact, it has a dignified appearance that feels history. There is no indication of origin in the precincts. In other words, "both snakes and mosquitoes" is a festival, and I understand that it is an intangible cultural property designated by Yokohama City, but the explanation of the shrine is not so wonderful. Donen Inari Shrine is JARO. When I looked it up, the construction was unknown. It seems to be about 1700 to 1800. Is the regular holiday the first Sunday in June? That's about it. The nearest station is Kagetsu Sojiji (Keikyu) or Kokudo Station (JR). All are about 8 minutes on foot (about 600m). It is a little 10 minutes walk (about 850m) from Namamugi station. If you want to eat and drink, the direction of Namamugi station is good. We recommend the dumplings at Nanmon Hanten, which is about a 5-minute walk away. It is highly likely that you will overlook it, but you can also worship the monument (signboard) of the Namamugi Incident along the way.
