★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 現在、水戸方面から大子に入る道は国道118号線が中心になっているが、かつては南郷街道と云って頃藤から大沢に入り、此の峠を越えて大子に向かったもののようである。
400m近い標高があるのではなかろうか。
大子へは此処からずっと沢伝いに下りるのでは無く、途中大子城がある山の鞍部を越えて長岡に出たようである。
大子城も此の道と大きく関係しているのであろう。
現在は、途中に航空保安施設へ向かう道が通っているので、辛うじてかつての道の痕跡を知ることが出来るが、特に大子城付近は何処に道が通っていたのかわからない状態である。
人が通れば道が出来、通らねば消えしまうのだろう。
時代の流れを痛感する場所である。
