Best Izakaya restaurant in japan

R	Rachel Finninger Grunn on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We had such a great time here! Amazing place. AMAZING food and great beer. Ambiance is warm and cozy and Toru is hilarious. Really can’t believe we stumbled across such an awesome spot. Definitely come by if you’re in town! You won’t regret it.
M	Mandy Geer on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This place is the best! The owners name is Turo (sp?) and he is a character! He drinks tons of sake with you and keeps you laughing the entire time. There is no menu so tell the owner when you are hungry and he will cook you whatever he feels like between drinks! The food is amazing! The owner calls his food Japanese soul food. It's very hearty, you won't be disappointed. The owner also traveled all across America during the 80's so he plays 80's classics for you while singing every word. 10/10 would recommend for anyone traveling in the Nagano area. His english is pretty decent and he is very welcoming so don't be scared there is no menu. For 3 people we ate a ton of food, drank 3 large beers, 3 large sakes, and had plum wine for 4500 yen!! Highly recommend any and all come to this little corner of the world and experience this man and his savory foods!

They speak good English and accommodate vegetarians. Great value for money. I think it might be all you can eat and drink for quite cheap. The izakaya looks like something from a Clint Eastwood movie. Full on Japanese dinner. Excellent!!!!

We were here for one night and stumbled across this little place when we were hungry and tired. This little unassuming spot was the absolute highlight of our entire trip, and our most treasured memories of Japan are here. Thank you, Master!
L	Lucy How on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We were here for Izakaya dinner. We sat down and Touru, the owner asked us what we wanted to drink. You need not see the menu simply because there isn't one. And there is no price list. We asked for hot sake and it came in a Japanese sake flask. He saunters into the kitchen behind the wall and starts his preparation. He cooks the items one at a time. We can see him behind the curtained window. His day will usually be good, I presume. He is a jolly man, drinking sake while he works and smokes behind the counter while he chats with you. We were then served fried saba, a bowl of mixed veg and tofu soup, chicken karage, a humongous pot of udon soup. I think it's best not to say you are hungry cos you'll end up with the same humongous pot of noodle soup. The couple beside us must have known cos theirs was a more modest pot. At the end of the very nice and more-than-ample meal we asked for the bill. He pondered a little and responded, "Is 3000 yen okay?" We thought it was okay. We enjoyed our dinner and got worried about how to work the calories off. Belly-happy!

All things you need to do is just order drink, then he gives you whatever food he wants to cook. Price is reasonable (he even doesn't count but at least cheap). You can enjoy chatting with regular customers and get tips for looking around the area.

No menu, fantastic food and drinks that seemed to be unending - we spent 3000 yen/pp. Very social environment and the owners are so wonderful, chatty and essentially feed you based on how “hungry” you say you are. Go for the experience, you won’t be disappointed!
