If you walk straight to the top expect about an hour to get there. Highly recommend taking your time and walking slowly, saw someone fall on my walk up and it did not look enjoyable. You will find a golden Buddha at the top and beautiful views of the mountains and city below. If you are in Sendai wondering what to do, do yourself a favor and make a trip to Yamadera.

The service from the elderly man in the temple shop was disgusting and has left a tarnish on my memory of the place. He was extremely egotistical and judgmental towards us and trying to preach manners in a very condescending way. Is this the way a so-called religious man should act? Do not buy any goods from this temple shop and do not interact with this pathetic man. There are many other shops on the mountain you can purchase from. Enjoy the view! It is incredible!
