I had taken 4 photos (2 of the interior and 2 of myself and my friend, and no we were not “moving around” to take these photos as I’m sure any security footage will prove :)), and I wanted to take a photo of the owner preparing the drinks so I asked him if I could, when he blew up at me. A polite “no” would have been fine and appropriate. We must have caught him on a bad day but it is no excuse to berate a customer and make rude and false assumptions based on nothing more than the fact that we took a few photos. Let me be clear, there was no argument or back-and-forth. He just berated us. We love cocktail bars and have been to many around the city. We have even been to bars where they ask their customers to ask before taking photos, the difference is they will have a sign or tell you politely unlike what we experienced at Starman. I won’t go into detail of all the rude things he said but one comment that stood out to me was that his bar “should be respected like the bars in Ginza”. I have been to cocktail bars in Ginza and can confirm that Starman pales in comparison to a place like High Five. Such a shame because the interior and drinks are stunning, and the cocktails tasted delicious as well. Wish him and the bar the very best but I will not be coming back.
L	Laure Jacquon on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Bad experience for us. The bar was really pretty and we were very happy to be there with my friend. We were the only clients as it was a bit early. My friend and I took some pictures while waiting for our drinks. Which apparently acted as a trigger for the owner of the place. In a very rude way he said something along the lines « Aren’t you taking too many pictures? It’s okay because there is no other clients but I’m sure you would do the same if there were. » This cut all the joy we had coming here and we finished our drinks quickly and left the place. Will never come here again and do not recommend. If you don’t want people taking pictures, that’s fine. But maybe you can put a sign or at least ask politely and professionally.
j	justdenean on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This bar is amazing! Do not listen to the negative reviews! After seeing the other reviews we were hesitant but we still decided to go and I’m really glad we did. We got a welcome drink when we first walked in. Both cocktails we ordered were delicious! He was so friendly and even put on a small show (I wish I could post videos here). We were even offered fresh fruit and champagne as well. The hospitality was out of this world! I felt like me and my friend were a guest in his house with how well he treated us. Please go to this bar I’ll definitely be going again!
