★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Heads down one of the most fun food experiences you'll ever have! I would go as far as saying it's worth going to Morioka just to go here (and for the JoJo reference, of course). They offer you two menu options, the expensive one is the one I choose and it was crazy tasty, but if you are going for the bigger amount of bowls eaten I would recommend choosing the cheap one (the difference is that they give you less side dishes, that even good, they will take room from soba). Even so, I managed to eat a 100 of them and got my wooden plate that credits it! Good luck to you!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The wanko soba game was super fun, and the food was delicious. We took the regular wanko soba where you have to count the number of bowls by yourself, so I recommend to take the deluxe one so they will count for you and you will be able to take a picture with the mountain of bowls. After you finish eating you get a souvenir token of your accomplishment. The staff were very friendly and cheerful, making it an overall amazing experience.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We called and asked if they were open before we went because we knew it’s a holiday. The lady on the phone said yes, so we took a taxi, only to be turned away when we walked in. We explained that we had just called and were told it’s open today. They called a manager who came and simply said, we are closed. It was a waste of over ¥2000 in Taxi fees because there are 5 in our group. We really wanted to try their soba but if they’re closed, it can’t be helped. We are only disappointed that we called and asked first and were told the wrong thing.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Our group of 5 was very excited to try the wanko soba here, so we called ahead and asked (in Japanese) if the restaurant was open. The staff said yes. We spent over ¥2000 in taxi fare (2 taxis) and were told that the restaurant was closed. The staff and manager were very cold and rude to us, and did not seem to care that they provided misinformation and wasted our money. One of the staff members even said on the phone in front of us (some of us understand Japanese) that "there were gaijin here and they wouldn't leave." We were simply trying to explain our situation and ask if they knew of another soba restaurant that was open. This experience left us feeling that we were treated this way because we were foreigners, which is unacceptable. Unfortunately we will be bringing our business to a different soba restaurant.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Delicious wanko soba. 2 sets for your choice: with cheaper set you'll have to count dishes yourself, luxury set has the staff counting and cheering you. Fun experience. (Tip: don't eat so much sakana or meat topping at the beginning)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ How many Bowls can you complete? Wanko Soba is a all you can eat Sobs Challenge. Though only small servings are given out, it’s the challenge of eating as many bowls as you can. I only manage 104, a poor effort compared to the younger bloke next to me who was smaller than me who manage to down 130 bowls.
Honestly if you don’t like eating too much, they also have single servings of Soba with sides. But just do the challenge and Soba yourself out.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Famous for their wanko soba, a must try for the foodie tourist. A bit pricy for what you are getting. Essentially it is all you can eat soba for approximately 2900-3400 yen, as a “game” which you must keep eating until you call it quits. However, it is fun and memorable. If you eat/reach 100 or more cups, you’re awarded a bill called a “Tegata” which is a nice souvenir. Friendly staff. English instructions available.
