★ ★ ★ ★ ★ カシマサッカースタジアムの南、大駐車場のすぐ隣に鎮座。
当初、この神社は阿波からの移住があって成立した神社かと思って参拝したが、「あわ」ではなく「あば」と読むところからすると、茨城県稲敷市阿波（あば）に鎮座する大杉神社の系統の神社なのだろう。
江戸時代の書物、「総常日記」に「鹿島にも大杉社あり」というのは当社のことなのかもしれない。

境内の掲示板によると、当社は猿田彦命を祀る。創建は不明だが、明治14年に神社格を得た。なお、現在の阿波神社は国道51号バイパス工事に伴い、氏子一同が1994年に境内後ろに新しい社殿を建立し御神体を遷したという。

According to the bulletin board in the precincts, we enshrine Sarutahiko's life. The shrine was founded in 1887, although its construction is unknown. In addition, it is said that the current Awa Shrine was relocated to the shrine by building a new shrine behind the precincts in 1994 due to the construction of the national highway No. 51 bypass.
