★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 岡山市の真ん中を流れる旭川に西中島と東中島という中洲があります。京橋・中橋・小橋という橋で繋がりチンチン電車も走る主要道路ではありますが、この地は戦前から戦後にかけ遊郭が栄えた花街だった歴史もあります。その東中島に鎮座されているのが当社で名前は立石稲荷神社。新京橋のほぼ真下に鎮座され余り知られていないようで、現在の東中島の住人の方々のみ信仰されてる様子。「立石稲荷神社」と言えば山口県の壇ノ浦にあり、こちらの末社になるのでしょうか。平家一門が京都より下ってきた際に、伏見稲荷の分霊を祀ったことが始まりとされている壇ノ浦の立石稲荷。屋島の戦いで敗れた平家が敗走中に軍船が神社の前にて難破して沈没、その無縁仏を祀られていることから、旭川のほぼ河口であり瀬戸内海と繋がるこの岡山東中島には、平家の末裔が多く移り住み分社末社として建てたかも知れませんね。
