山名古墳群として紹介します。高崎市山名町801-3　6世紀中頃～7世紀前半(古墳時代後期～末期)につくられた古墳群です。山名古墳群前方後円墳である山名伊勢塚古墳のほか、帆立貝形古墳1基、円墳14基、形態不明1基の合計17基の古墳があります。この16号墳あたりから眺めるのをお勧めします。円墳がポコポコ見渡せる不思議な光景が見ることができます。古墳の多くは樹木に覆われなかなか外形が解りません。ここは、綺麗に整備されているため古墳群の様子を見ることのできる貴重な場所の１つです。宮崎県等にも茶畑にポコポコある古墳を見ることができますが古墳の多い群馬県でもなかなか良い眺めです。また奥に石室を見ることのできる建物があります。大きな古墳だけでなく下々古墳を眺めるのも良いです。葺石も散乱しているので雰囲気は良いです。

Yamana tumulus group In addition to the Yamana Isetsuka tumulus, which is a front-rear tumulus, there are a total of 17 tumuli, including one scallop-shaped tumulus, 14 tumuli, and one unknown form. It is recommended to look from around this Mound No. 16. You can see a mysterious sight overlooking the burial mound. Many of the burial mounds are covered with trees and it is difficult to understand the outer shape. This is one of the valuable places where you can see the state of the tumulus because it is in good condition. You can see old burial mounds in the tea plantations in Miyazaki prefecture, but it is a pretty good view even in Gunma prefecture, where there are many old burial mounds. There is also a building in the back where you can see the stone chamber. It is good to see not only the big tumulus but also the tumulus below. The atmosphere is good because the butterbur stones are also scattered.
