日本は かつて神仏習合が定着し、仏以外も篤く信仰する人が多かった為、道祖神(村の守り神)などの［石の神像］も多く建てられた。
ここにある石仏の 80%は、
江戸時代(1600年頃)に製作されたものと言われている。

In Japan, Shinto-Buddhist practice was once established, and many people worshiped other than Buddha, so many [stone gods] such as Dosojin (the guardian deity of the village) were built.
80% of the stone Buddhas here
It is said to have been manufactured in the Edo period (around 1600).
