"At Canal Town Hyogo, a new canal with a length of about 600m will be constructed between this square and Hyogoeki Minami Park, named after the city. This monument marks the beginning and represents the "departure to the future from the canal to the sea" with five colonnades. In addition, five iron pillars of the brick warehouse that actually existed on the site of the former Hyogo freight station are used for the colonnades. This brick warehouse was built in 1888 (1888 AD) as the Kobe engine warehouse of Sanyo Railway, and iron pillars imported from the United Kingdom were used for the pillars of the brick wall.
