★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 明屋敷遺跡は，市の東部にあり，JR仙台駅の東約5.5kmに位置する。現在は土地区画整理事業が行われ，平坦な商業地区や住宅地となっている。区画整理以前は，標高4m前後の自然堤防上が住宅と畑になっており，その周辺の自然堤防より1mほど低い旧河道や後背湿地は水田となっていた。東西340m，南北270mの範囲が遺跡として登録されている。面積は約64,900㎡である。昭和54年（1979）に実施された土地区画整理事業に伴い，水田部分が調査され，溝跡と土坑が発見された。
 The Meiyashiki site is located in the eastern part of the city, about 5.5km east of JR Sendai Station. Currently, land readjustment projects are being carried out, and it has become a flat commercial area and residential area. Before the land readjustment, houses and fields were on the natural levee at an altitude of about 4 m, and the old river channel and back swamp, which were about 1 m lower than the surrounding natural levee, were paddy fields. The area of 340m east-west and 270m north-south is registered as an archaeological site. The area is about 64,900 m2. Along with the land readjustment project carried out in 1979, the paddy field was investigated and the remains of a ditch and a pit were found.
