仙台市市役所の敷地内にある小さな鐘、Google mapで見つけて行ったのだが、あまりの小ささちょっとがっかり、、 1951年（昭和26年）5月の母の日に、在仙米陸軍病院に入院中の将兵のもとに大学婦人協会仙台支部の有志から花束が届けられた。同じ大学婦人協会リバサイド支部の会員を母とする将兵によりこのことが故郷に伝えられ、大きな反響を呼び、リバサイド市側に「東北大学女子学生のための奨学制度」設立となった。これが契機となり、リバサイド市議会で数市の姉妹都市候補の中から仙台が選ばれ、提携を行うに至ったことを記念して作られた鐘。

On Mother's Day in May 1951 (Showa 26), a bouquet was delivered by volunteers from the University Women's Association Sendai Branch to a soldier who was admitted to the US Army Hospital in Sendai. A soldier who was a member of the same university women's association, Liverside Branch, reported this to his hometown, and a great response was received. With this opportunity, the bell was created in commemoration of the fact that Sendai was selected from the sister city candidates of several cities by the Riverside city council and reached a partnership.

La 9an de marto 1957 Sendai City kaj Usono estis subskribitaj de La Urbo Ribaside, Kalifornio, internacia ĝemelurbo. On 9 March 1957 Sendai City and the United States were signed by The City of Ribaside, California, an international twin city. In commemoration of the 10th anniversary, this bell was given by The City of Ribaside as a certificate of friendship, and it was installed on December 7, 1967. It is located in the plantation between the parking lot in front of the town hall and the parking lot in front of the meeting.
